All Stars

Smiles on faces are a regular sight at Blessington All-Stars training sessions.

Blessington All-Stars are shining bright

All Stars takes place every Sunday morning 10am-11am. These sessions are primarily designed for children and teenagers with additional needs. Our main aim is for the children and their families to feel included within Blessington GAA.

The hour long sessions are run exactly like the academy where we introduce basic football skills along with having fun.

We offer a completely safe environment in our Astro and always welcome new comers not only from Blessington, but the wider community.

Last season, we were delighted to be sponsored by Poulaphuca pitch and putt and our senior men’s team, where each child received a hoodie to wear to training and this meant so much to the children.

All of our volunteers have trained in autism in sports and also disabilities training in sports through CARA.

The sessions are very much child-led. Wicklow Sports Partnership have been very good to us and they've supplied us with a big colourful parachute and other equipment.

We start the morning off with simple games with the parachute and then we put that away and let the children take part in whatever game they'd like, no-one is forced to do anything.

You take a stand back and look to see who might need a little bit of an extra help, and then we get hand-passing games and penalty shoot-outs going and little obstacle courses.

It's absolutely brilliant. If anyone is ever feeling a little down they should come up to one of our All-Stars sessions because you go home with a lighter heart after being there for the hour.
