Adult Men’s Teams
A disappointing start for both teams yesterday. Senior men travelled to Aughrim on Sunday morning for their opening game against Rathnew. The lads got off to a flying start but Rathnew found their boots and quickly followed on the scoreboard. Well done to everyone for putting on a super game of football in intense heat. Final score Blessington 2-10 V Rathnew 2-15. The lads have a couple of weeks to regroup before their next game on Saturday of August Bank Holiday weekend.
Then it was straight to Baltinglass for the Junior A lads to face Shilleagh/Coolboy. Again the lads started off well going in at halftime 1 point up. But Shilleagh came back out fighting and won on a scoreline of Blessington 2-13 V Shilleagh/Coolboy 4-13. Well done to everyone, it was a long hot day for the Junior team. And a huge thanks to all the supporters for travelling to both games.
U15’s Div 1 Match Report Wed 9th July
Our U15 Division 1 team kicked off their championship campaign last Wednesday with a tough away fixture against Rathnew.
Rathnew started off the brightest, and took control early on and slotted over some scores to lead at the first half water break. A better showing in the second quarter saw us reduce the deficit slightly, going into the half-time break five points behind.
With no breeze and temperatures still high, the second half opened brightly for us. We rattled off three unanswered scores to claw our way back into the game, and by the water break the sides were level heading into a tense final ten minutes.
Despite a spirited effort from our lads, Rathnew edged ahead again in the closing stages. We had a chance to snatch the win with the last kick of the game, but a great save from the Rathnew goalkeeper turned a potential match-winning goal into a single point.
Plenty of positives to take from the performance, and valuable lessons learned both on and off the pitch. A big thank you to all the parents and supporters who travelled on what was a very warm evening, next up is our second championship match this Sunday against Bray Emmets.
Final score:
Rathnew 2-15
Blessington 4-08

It was a brilliant evening and that’s just some of the fun we do get up to on Fridays. Even our Sponsor for Academy got soaked. Thanks Hudson Brothers,
Academy is every Friday 5.30-6.30.
U16 Girls
The U16 girls had a brilliant fun training session last night in unreal weather followed by Leah Headon’s Nutrition chat with the girls about eating healthy for their growth and development. The chat was specifically tailored to the female player/ athlete and the demands on their bodes during training and matches. We hope that the girls take something from the chat about how they plan there week around rest, training and match days, as well as implementing some of the fuelling habits for there overall health, which was the main theme of the chat. Thanks again to Leah Headon, Johnathan Behan and Qualitas Property Partners for sponsoring the chat and Kennys Super Valu for sponsor the recover fuel after training.
